GALLERIES & ROADTRIPS...
...before the Bead & Button Show, my sweet friend Jennifer Ionta & I went up to visit Bell Street Gallery on Madeline Island, Wisconsin for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend. The gallery is so well done... unique to the island & really well received. Steve, the owner, is such a neat guy...his wife, daughter Kelly & good friends were up there for the weekend, too (Kelly will be there all summer)... it was so nice getting to know them! We enjoyed demoing... as soon as you light up a torch it is sure to bring in an audience. We can't wait to get back up there... will be going up w/ our families the weekend of July 31st & for sure again the first weekend in October (Bayfield's Apple Festival that weekend!), maybe some time in September, too, not sure, yet. Check out the gallery's website calendar or my website's schedule, I'll be sure to put the dates up there.

Hi Julie, looks like you had a great time. I had the honor of being in a Loren Stump class a couple of weeks ago with Jennifer. What a sweetheart. Are you going to Glass Stock?

No GlassStock this year... Jennifer & I will be taking our own roadtrip to BeadFest Philadelphia just the weekend before. Will miss everyone, for sure.

LOL!! Hi Lynn! Have a blast @ GS... I'd love to be there. Next year maybe you should check out the Midwest Glass Experience @ Third Degree in St. Louis. Was Valentine weekend this year & was awesome! That facility was built for such an event.

Hi Scott! Don't know about OSHA... but they are glasses made for torchwork... here's some info for you:
Whether you know them as AV 2000, Phillips 202, or one of several other trade names, ACE is the name Schott calls their most popular lampworking filter lens. ACE exceeds light filtering in the UV (ultra violet), near IR (infrared) and sodium flare spectrums than the old rose didymium lenses. Sodium flare is the bright yellow orange light that hot glass produces while in the flame, It is also what irritates and fatigues your eyes the most. In addition, ACE color enhances red, blue and green, making it easier to see a glass' true color and judge its temperature while you work.
So yes, I'm being safe. :o)
